As the presidential campaign season heats up, one subject is sorely lacking among the participants. Social Security's future does not seem to be on the table. Some will want to cut benefits, others may want to raise taxes. We may be lucky just to save it as it is. Other than Bernie ganders, no major candidates as of this writing are talking about expanding Social Security benefits. That is why the article by Nancy Altman and Eric Kingson is so important. They offer a bold plan not merely to save Social Security as it is but to expand it significantly. In general they believe a 10 percent increase in benefits is needed. Theirs is the sort of plan that needs public airing this presidential season.
