MAJOR CHANGES AT ATLAS AIR WORLDWIDE HOLDINGS

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWH) reported 2008 net income down 51.9% to $64 million as revenues rose 2.1% to $1.61 billion. For the fourth quarter, net income was up 22.8% to $62 million despite a 25.3% fall in revenue to $335 million. These results include the impact of a previously-disclosed pre-tax gain of $153.6 million related to the sale of a 49% equity interest (25% voting interest) in Polar Air Cargo to DHL Express, a "largely non-cash" special charge of $91.2 million related to the retirement of seven 747-200Fs, and a further charge of $8.2 million related to early termination of a service contract for five 747-200F engines.
