A six-month trial by U.S.-based Citigroup of contactless-mobile credit New York City showed transaction numbers more than doubled compared with conventional credit cards, said a senior executive. Citigroup launched the trial late last year, putting a MasterCard Worldwide PayPass application on Nokia NFC mobile phones. The Citi Cards unit of the financial services giant invited customers who were also subscribers of AT&T, formerly Cingular Wireless, to participate.
