Vendors are betting consumers, Web merchants and other e-commerce players are getting fed up with the growing security threat to shopping and banking online. But the vendors, led by France-based Gemalto, are casting aside the idea of offering the same old smart cards and readers they've tried for years to sell to corporations and government agencies for securing network access. That market has failed to grow.
