Blowing a fuse is a phrase we sometimes hear when someone has been pushed too far and snapped. In a car, when a fuse blows or pops, it is because the current passing through it is greater than its rated capacity. Fuses are there to protect circuits against too much current, which can melt wires, damage components and even cause fires.
