COMMENT ON 'ESTIMATION OF MEAN AREAL EVAPORATION IN NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO' BY U.S. PANU AND Y. NGUYEN

The paper by Panu and Nguyen in this Journal, Vol. 19, No. 1,1994, purports to discuss the problem of estimating mean areal evaporation in Northwestern Ontario. However, its main purpose seems to be to select the best method for estimating pan evaporation in the same area. By thus confusing the issue, it casts doubt on the adequacy of the CRAE (complementary relationship areal evapotranspiration) model (Morton, 1976, 1983). This discussion is an attempt to sort out the confusion.
