Telcos can no longer be discounted as marginal players in the multichannel market as the number of facilities-based video customers is quickly approaching the one mil. mark. Adding in bundled satellite subs brings the total telco video customer base closer to five mil. SNL Kagan estimates RBOCs added 287K bundled satellite customers and more than 277K facilities-based video subs in Q3, boosting the total video penetration of primary retail residential access lines to 7.2%, up from 3.7% in the same quarter last year.
