As much as people say they don't look at the poll numbers, you can't help but pay attention to them. It certainly kind of cuts you, and obviously if I'm going to be successful over the next year and a half, the poll numbers will have to catch up. But I think that if you stick to doing the right thing, the poll numbers will catch up. In Minnesota, I had the first government shutdown in 150 years; my popularity ratings went from something like the low 50s to the mid-30s in a week.
