In its 21st annual Business Aviation Outlook, Honeywell found that about 30 percent of operators interviewed have plans to purchase a new business jet in the next five years, either as a replacement or in addition to their existing fleet. Although the survey found that much of the ground lost by business aviation operations during the 2008-09 recession has yet to be recaptured, Honeywell expects growth in the low single digits for 2013, presaging a slow, multiyear path back to historical normalcy. One initiative that is staying ahead of the business aviation curve is Lufthansa Private Jet service, which allows Lufthansa's regular customers access to private jets to countless destinations via a one-stop-shopping concept. "In 2012 we had excellent growth, with a worldwide increase of 46 percent in comparison to 2011," says Don Bunkenburg, Managing Director, Corporate Sales & Regions North America, Lufthansa. "With a growth of 84 percent compared to 2011, the Americas sales region-where a quarter of worldwide sales are generated-was responsible for the majority of this growth."
