Qantas releases its quarterly earnings on Aug. 20. The Australian carrier, which specializes in long-haul routes, is cutting 6,000 jobs to adapt to an implosion in travel. On Aug. 19 the Federal Reserve provides the minutes from its July 28-29 meeting, when the Open Market Committee decided to keep borrowing costs at close to zero. The Joint OPEC-Non-OPEC Ministerial Monitoring Committee holds its next meeting on Aug. 18 to craft a response to slack oil demand, which has fallen during the pandemic.
