Aviation has been in the sights of environmental activists for some time and particularly in Europe, where aviation has become a target for "shaming" as a source of atmospheric pollution. BCA asked EBAA Secretary General Athar Husain Khan to comment on what role the European business aviation advocacy group is taking in this conversation. His response follows. "First, let's talk about sustainable aviation fuels [SAF]. The Business Aviation Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition [BASAFC] was formed by the EBAA, NBAA, GAMA, IBAC and NATA more than a decade ago because we believe sustainable aviation fuel is one of the key components for reducing our carbon footprint and increasing our sustainability impact. We are heavily committed to this as an industry and have published the Business Aviation Commitment to Climate Change pamphlet, setting out three goals and a pathway to reduce our carbon footprint as an industry. One of those goals is an improvement in technology, which is not only design of engines and aircraft but flying on sustainable fuel.
