Our January 1 992 issue — magazine No.442 — marked the biggest transformation in what now is our 62-year history. The month we grew into our current A4 page size. From launch in November 1949 as Buses Illustrated, this was more of a pocket-sized publication and although it had outgrown all but the most commodious pockets from July 1 981, at 240mm deep by 1 83mm wide, there were limits to the visual impact or amount of text that could be accommodated.
