Memories of Vikings in Barbados

Bob Hind's account of bus travel in Barbados (Buses August) reminded me of my time on the island as the caretaker of two batches of Albion (Leyland) Vikings delivered to the Barbados Transport Board (BTB) in 1977/78. As the Leyland service engineer based at Roebuck Street depot, I did not venture to the extremes of seeing the island by bus, as my one and only attempt at trying the system was thwarted when, at the main bus station terminal in Bridgetown and near the head of a very long queue waiting for a bus, I ended up being one of the last actually to board the bus. Absolute kick and rush chaos.
