Merseytravel control might improve Liverpool services

Brian Cox (Inside Track last month) took a swipe at the shadow transport secretary Maria Eagle (picture). The accusation was that her views on transport are formed mainly by outdated, traditional Labour thinking and not on the actual quality of services delivered to passengers. I am not and have never been a member of the Labour Party, but I live in Ms Eagle's constituency. I would suggest to Mr Cox that her views are based more on what she sees with her own two eyes and the experiences of her constituents when using public transport and particularly buses. Mr Cox appears to think that post deregulation, passengers experience some sort of bus Shangri-La. I and numerous others beg to differ. There are many shortcomings in the provision of bus services in Liverpool that I could point to but I will concentrate on just one area.
