摘要

I refer to Robert Howard's article (Publicity Matters, October) on his experience of all-operator tickets roadside timetables in Nottingham. As with everywhere outside of London, the pricing of the all-operator ticket (branded Kangaroo in Nottingham) is determined commercially by the bus/tram operators and not by the city council. Operators de-risk any chance of transfer from their own single operator tickets by putting on such a large premium for interchange, though I am not convinced this is backed up by any detailed market research. The council administers the scheme and also provides funding for various concessions to financially marginalised groups to assist their access to various opportunities, e.g. school and college students from low income families and work seekers.
