The economics of the enthusiast book market are generating ever more publications to a format such as this, printed on matt paper with up to two pictures to a page slightly bigger than A5. It gets a lot of pictures published that might not otherwise see the light of day, and makes them available for at least half the price you can expect to pay for a hardback book with bigger pages of glossy paper. The downside is that the pictures are never as big as they would be in a more expensive book and the reproduction cannot match that of a larger and more expensive publication.
