Calls for mayor to do more with bus network

The mayor's draft transport strategy fails to address important factors that have led to bus use falling, says the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT). While it welcomes the high level principles in the draft strategy, the CILT says it lacks detail and does not consider fully potential policy conflicts or resource implications. It argues that London needs a network of quality bus corridors providing rapid radial and orbital links between key centres, together with innovative local networks capable of evolving to reflect changing travel patterns and fill inadequate provision in areas with lower demand.
