My item last month on a double-deck Optare Solo prompted Bob Belcher to get in touch with another example of the toy trade apparently seeing more potential for British bus designs than the manufacturers of the real full-size things sometimes recognise. This example from Bob's collection draws heavily on the lines of the Wright New Routemaster, but is a single-deck version yet to emerge from Ballymena, one perfectly sized to fit under low bridges. He wonders if someone in China saw a photograph of RM1368, the original-style Routemaster cut down to single-deck after a fire in the 1970s, and created a similar concept conversion of an NRM.
