The huge drop in single-deck bus sales was again caused entirely by reduced demand from the Big Five groups; the number received fell by over 600, or 60%. National Express received none while all but one of Arriva's dramatically reduced intake of 35 were for TfL contracts. First received fewer than 90, a reduction of two-thirds on the previous year, while Stagecoach bought 124, a cut of just over 200. This left Go-Ahead as the biggest customer for single-deck buses, taking 150, still a reduction but of less than 20%. The total of 194 destined for TfL routes was up slightly on 2015.
