The ability of older diesel buses retrofitted to Euro6 to reduce harmful emissions has been called into question in a Sunday Times article. It was claimed that Transport Scotland has paused its £12m bus retrofit programme in Glasgow, after identifying 'under-performing' vehicles at First Glasgow. Though stated that investigations are at an early stage, the article alleges that buses which had been expected to achieve nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reductions of 95% were in fact achieving reductions closer to 20%.
