FirstGroup is to manage the UK's first trial of autonomous vehicles on public roads, a 30-month project to link Didcot Parkway railway station with the nearby Milton Park business complex.Although relatively close to the railway station, which is served by First's Great Western Railway and linked by a double-deck shuttle bus operated by Courtney Coaches, most travel to and from Milton Park is by car. The complex is being expanded and the aim of the trial is for up to 50% of private vehicle journeys within the site to be undertaken in shared driverless electric pods.First already participates in trials of driverless shuttles in the United States.
