The ultimate in theatre-style seating

One of the more unusual uses for a retired double-decker is the new life of G91 PES, an Alexander RV-bodied Volvo Citybus now in the hands of the Halifax-based IOU Theatre. New to Tayside in 1989 as its No.91 and latterly with Hilton of Newton-le-Willows in Merseyside, it has been rebuilt to provide the travelling theatre's rear view experience where travelling performances are staged against the backdrop of the town or city being visited. The bus has been radically rebuilt, losing not only its roof and top deck windows, but with a sloping floor to accommodate tiers of backwards-facing seats for the audience to view the outdoor shows, which in September were held in Coventry and Grantham.
