'Renewable Energy Capital of the World'

The GRC represented the geothermal energy community at the 6th Annual Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit & Expo in March. Held at the Barbara Worth Resort & Country Club, just 9 miles north of the U.S. border with Mexico, the conference highlighted the important contributions renewable energy has made to the economy of the Imperial Valley. The local politicians tout the Imperial Valley as the "renewable energy capital of the world" and the evidence on the ground bears this out. Of course, geothermal energy was the first renewable to arrive in the area in 1982, when crystallizer-reactor clarifier technology was used in geothermal power production.
