Bringing You Up-to-Date with What's Happening in the GRC

As this is the Bulletin that will be show-cased at the GRC Annual Meeting in Portland, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the City of Roses. I hope you all take full advantage of the many events planned for the geothermal energy event of the year. Portland is truly a beautiful city with many things to do and places to see so please take the time and enjoy Portland and also the entire state of Oregon. The state has been in our sights for geothermal development for many years and now, with recent development and exploration success, we will see more and more geothermal opportunities in Oregon. To mention a few, OIT (Oregon Institute of Technology) in Klamath Falls is now the only University in the U.S. that is heated and powered by 1.75 MW of electricity produced from a geothermal resource directly under their feet. A post-meeting GRC Field Trip will visit the campus. US Geothermal is delivering electricity to the grid at their Neal Hot Springs project, and Klamath Basin Geopower has successfully completed their second well at its Olene-Poe Valley project. AltaRock continues to work on their EGS project at Newberry, which will be also be a stop on one of our scheduled GRC Field Trips. Oregon will be the center of the geothermal world for the near future with so many geothermal specialists visiting the area.
