It's April, so alongside the first swallows landing on the telegraph wires, it's time for "SkillBuild" If you're aware of the competition, but a bit vague on the details, let me fill you in. SkillBuild is the annual chance for some of the country's estimated 32,000 construction apprentices to showcase just how good they are. Across 14 regional heats, young men (and an increasing number of young women) compete during one day of prescribed tasks in the 10 core trades of construction, from bricklaying to wall-tiling.
