Bouygues wins race to build £90m Bristol Arena

Bouygues has won the race to build the £90m Populous-designed Bristol Arena, writes Louise Dransfield. Building revealed on Monday the French contractor has been named preferred bidder, beating shortlisted firms Bam, Sir Robert McAlpine, Laing O'Rourke and Buckingham Group to the job. Market sources told Building that Bam, Sir Robert McAlpine and Laing O'Rourke all walked away from the contest after refusing to sign up to what one source termed Bristol council's "inflexible" bidding terms.
