Balfour Beatty bags £70m Edinburgh university job

Balfour Beatty has been appointed to a £70m contract to transform the Old Royal Infirmary hospital building for Edinburgh university. The Bennetts Associates-designed scheme will see the contractor restore and connect six wards in the Grade A-listed building to create a major educational hub that will be called the Edinburgh Futures Institute. On completion, the development, which has been part-funded by the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal, will provide 21,000m2 of teaching and learning facilities, function areas, and work spaces for staff, students and the public.
