A transport minister has confirmed that HS2 chair Allan Cook is carrying out a review of the project. Answering a written question in the House of Lords this week, Baroness Vere of Norbiton, who is a minister in the transport department, said it was Cook's job to keep the £56bn project under tabs. She said: "It is the role of the chair and the board of HS2 Ltd to keep the entire programme under ongoing scrutiny. "The chair is currently carrying out an assessment in this regard and has regular discussions with the [transport] department about its progress." The question followed reports that transport secretary Chris Grayling asked Cook to undertake a review "to make sure that the costs and budget are right and that it is deliverable". Graham gets nod for £25m BBC Belfast makeover The BBC has chosen Graham to carry out a £25m revamp of its Northern Irish base - a tonic for the firm after pre-tax profit slipped one-third in its last set of results. The Northern Irish contractor is set to redevelop the corporation's 1930s Broadcasting House in Belfast. Graham will be responsible for the construction of a new building that will link to existing blocks as well as creating a plaza space adjacent to the building that will form a new entrance to the BBC. Sheppard Robson is main architect and interiors architect. The main construction package is expected to start this December and finish in January 2023.
