Laing O'Rourke joins Balfour and Kier on poor payers list

Government figures show that the country's biggest private contractor, Laing O'Rourke, is one of the industry's poorest payers among top 10 firms ranked by turnover, writes Dove Rogers. The first set of comprehensive data on how quickly firms pay their suppliers -released by the government this summer - showed Balfour Beatty and Kier were taking 54 days to settle up. Now Laing O'Rourke has been revealed to be taking 53 days to pay its bills. The three's combined turnover exceeds £15.5bn.
