Should Saarinen's American Embassy building be listed?

The US embassy, which was designed by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen following a 1955 design competition and delivered by executive architect Yorke, Rosenberg & Mardall, is a fine example of a well scaled and consistent civic architecture and should be listed at grade II~*. Saarinen wanted to evoke the "pseudo-Georgian" tone of Gros-venor Square, and to symbolise "American democracy".
