Nottingham bids to be world design capital

The city of Nottingham is bidding to be the 2012 world design capital, citing Benson & Forsyth's Pod building (pictured) among its design credentials.rnThe title, awarded by the International Design Alliance, provides an international platform similar to thatfor European capital of culture, and could lead to a range of development opportunities. It is given to cities that use design to revitalise and reinvent their urban environment.rnAmong those backing the bid are designer Wayne Hemingway and architect and planner Les Sparks.
