Work on Ken Yeang's £321 million extension to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital began this week.rnThe 30,000sq m project will be completed in 2016 and is billed as the greenest hospital in the country. The scheme's Neat assessment, the health sector's equivalent of Breeam accreditation, has achieved an overall "excellent" rating.rnThe first phase of the projectrnis a 10-floor building - eight storeys above ground and two below - containing theatres, extra ward space and a new cardiac unit. It has natural ventilation, a green roof and two combined cooling heating and power units.
