Leading Scottish architects have criticised plans to hold a referendum on Aberdeen's £140 million Union Terrace Gardens project, the week before councillors hold a crucial vote on die matter. Aberdeen councillors will be asked next week to approveplans to hold a referendum on the project, but a previous consultation exercise revealed 55% of respondents were against the scheme. Malcolm Fraser said: "The public voted against it and now they're being asked to vote again. That's what happens in a democracy, they ask people to vote until the high and mighty get the result they want."
