In the week we feature Christ & Gantenbein's WohnWerk project in Basel, we look back to when Nick Grimshaw unveiled images of his new building at the Vitra campus in Weil am Rhein. Grimshaw was brought in to masterplan the site after a major fire destroyed the furniture manufacturer's facilities in 1981. He proposed integrating the buildings with a "landscaped mall" which would weave its way through the complex to form a new entrance piazza.
