Make goes for strawbale record

Make has completed what it claims is the UK's largest single strawbale building for the University of Nottingham's campus at Sutton Bonington. The straw for the 3,100sq m Gateway Building was grown on the university's farm nearby, with sub-contractor Eurban constructing a "flying factory" to create the prefabricated cladding panels, each of which covers all four floors in one piece. The building will house the school of biosciences and the school of veterinary and medical sciences.
