As Danish firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen brings the cantilevered white planes of the City of Westminster College to Paddington, we take a look at our contribution to Denmark's architectural scene: the imaginary Lilliputian hamlet of "Medbourne", Legoland. BD's reporter in 1980 was clearly unimpressed at the misleading representation of British architectural culture, claiming the diminutive plastic half-timbered houses to be a "twee figment of someone's imagination, drawing heavily on the tourist trap features of York, Chester and Stamford for its style. The East End of London may as well not exist."
