Swan Housing and Countryside Properties and their architects Aedas, Glenn Howells and Jestico & Whiles have been chosen for the redevelopment of the Robin Hood Gardens estate in east London. The team will now lead the demolition of the 1970s estate, designed by Alison and Peter Smithson, to make way for 1,621 new homes as part of the wider regeneration of Blackwall Reach. The decision, which is subject to the agreement of the Homes & Communities Agency, was presented to the Tower Hamlets council cabinet earlier this month. It means the second shortlisted team, L&Q, and Telford Homes with HTA and Squire & Partners, will miss out on the work.
