WOODS BAGOT AND RPA LAND QUEENSLAND JOB

Woods Bagot and RPA Architects have won a commission to design the AUS$25 million Cairns Institute, the new headquarters of the James Cook University campus (pictured above). The tropical research centre, to be built in north Queensland, will be surrounded on three sides by rainforest. The design features an external trellis to control the impact of the sun. It will also link internal and external spaces with the landscape. The scheme by Woods Bagot's Brisbane studio and RPA Architects in Townsville was selected from five shortlisted entries.
