Riba and Cabe accused of failing to act locally

The Riba and Cabe have been forced to deny that they have misunderstood the meaning of localism in bidding to control the future of design review. BD revealed before Christmas that 66 Portland Place had put forward a bid to housing minister Grant Shapps to use its regional network to run design review and other services on a local level. In a separate move, fellow central London organisation Cabe-currently due to be wound up in March-has put forward plans to the minister to shake up design review through a proposed merger with the Design Council.
