摘要

Two decades before the completion of the Stadshal in Ghent, another Belgian project was making the news when British practice Bureau for Urban Design won an ideas competition to revitalise an area of Antwerp called the Islet.rnThe Antwerp International Design Competition - called "The City and the River" -was part of plans to breathe new life into the city in time for its designation as Cultural Capital of Europe in 1993. The main thrust of the project was to restore the relationship between the city and its river by renovating the old waterfront area along the Scheldt.
