Paying for statins

Statins are cost effective in reducing coronary heart disease. Prescribing under the NHS to all patients who would benefit from them is not affordable. Current medical practice denies effective treatment to 32% of the adult population. Private prescriptions by general practitioners would be ethical as they would benefit all members of society.
