摘要

Administrations can be quick and brutal. And that was certainly the case with BFP most recently. You can read our coverage of its collapse on page 5. Questions remain about the new company, but I know the baking industry would like it to succeed and is wishing it well. However, it will not be without its challenges. Talking of challenging, the sliced bread market continues to be a battleground. The latest Kantar Worldpanel figures, revealed in The Grocer, show the total value of the sector is down 8.9% since a year ago, taking it below £1.5bn, and 75p is now a common price for an 800g loaf of bread. Sales volume is also down, with 50m fewer loaves sold in supermarkets last year.
