Three new access trains are due to be installed inside the decks of Denmark's Storebaelt East Bridge before the end of this year, replacing the original systems that are now more than 20 years old. But the new equipment has had to be designed so that it can be taken to pieces in order to get it through the small access shafts into the box girder decks. The original trains were placed inside the deck units before they were erected. Bridge operator Storebaelt has ordered three new shuttles and three new carriages for the bridge, which are being designed and manufactured by Fata Automation in the UK.
