摘要

Dark mysteries lurk in the deserted alleys and doorways of Mark Davey's European nightscapes. To walk with him down the shadowy streets of Venice and Prague is to journey through a spectral past with forebodings of trance-like encounters with the wandering spirits of Josef K. and Poe's Fortunato. "Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to be traveling in a foreign country, a foreign city, and be completely lost—lost in a sense of being so involved in what I'm doing that nothing else matters," says the Welsh-born photographer, whose use of light and shadow imbues his scenes with an eerie, ghostly paranoia.
