The museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago boasts 45,000 square feet of exhibition space. It has a stunning view of Lake Michigan with naturally lit collection galleries, cutting-edge exhibitions, performances and education programs that accommodate 25,000 people per year. The former site of the MCA was the first museum wrapped by Christo in 1969. In 1978, Gordon Matta-Clark sawed through an adjoining structure into which the MCA was expanding to create his final building cut, and in 1989, Mapplethorpe's The Perfect Moment exhibition drew record attendances. Its contemporary art collection includes work by Andreas Gurskey, Richard Prince, Thomas Struth, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Carrie Mae Weems, Robert Hei-necken, Walker Evans, Andrea Serrano, Ansel Adams, and the Bechers, to name a few. Curator Lynne Warren, whose specialties include photography, has been with the museum for almost 30 years.
