New York's first major photography event in 2010 was the International Center of Photography's (ICP) exhibition of work from the 1960s and '70s by the recently discovered Prague photographer Miroslav Tichy, now in his 80s. Tichy's prints are compelling, sometimes even wonderful, despite (or perhaps because of) his extremely sloppy printing habits and careless attention to storage. Independent curator Miles Barth commented: "In New York, missing the Tichy exhibition at ICP was tantamount to bypassing the side show at a Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus during it's golden age.
