摘要

"Two books I read as a child had a profound influence on my life," Bob Fitch tells me as he reclines on his overstuffed sofa at home in Watsonvilie, California. "One was Curious George, and the other, Ferdinand the Bull. Curious George is a monkey who was inordinately inquisitive about everything, and was always getting into mischief. And Ferdinand the Bull was raised to be a fighter, but when he went out in the middle of the ring, he sat down on his butt and wanted nothing more than to go back under the cork tree and smell the flowers. Those two stories affected me as a kid. They struck me as a very good way to live."
