The majority of fine-art artists, commercial artists and publications using non-commissioned photographs are respectful of copyright laws. With instant online access to images, it's difficult to keep track of who is using or abusing the privilege of image use. In today's world of digital news access, and the precedents set by high-profile legal cases of copyright infringement of photographic images, one would think that the difference between use and abuse would be clear. But when definitions are stretched, conflicts ensue and legal cases are brought to court.
