摘要

Cellulomonas sp. N.C.I.M. 2353 produces high levels of extracellular amylase, induced by starch or by other substrates like xylan and carboxymethylcellulose. PAGE followed by zymogram staining indicated four different amylases to be present in starch-grown culture filtrate and five different amylases in xylan-grown culture filtrate. Cross-induction of amylase by the non-starchy substrates was shown not to be due to contaminating starch. Thus Cellulomonas harbours true, in addition to multifunctional, as well as cross-inducible, amylases.
