INVITD COMMENT: the marriage of protein structure and pharmaceutical discovery

Cystallography has come of age in the study of macro- molecules. Wess (the following review, pages 127-142) has reviewed the state of the field and provided an easy entry for the biological scientist by defining the basic methods and successes in three-dimensional structure determination by X-ray crystallography. Wess notes the continuing rise in the frequency with which new structures can be determined.
